UFC on ESPN 25 Preview & Predictions

Main Event: Korean Zombie vs. Dan Ige

I dont know. Ige does basics well, is reasonably durable and has higher volume. Don't really see him as highest level contenter. KZ might be past his best by now as well, but he does still have dangerous boxing and power advantage.

Still feel like more often than not we go to a close decision here and Ige is better at winning those.

Co-Main Event: Aleksey Oleynik vs. Sergey Spivak

Ehh, Oleynik is weird guy to bet on cause he can hit you hard and obviously its quicksand being grappled by the guy, but realistically he only has 4 min of gas tank at best and his chin might be completely gone too.

Spivak probably finishes this but it could be cagey too because of Oleynik's grappling threat.

Marlon Vera vs. Davey Grant

I still don't rate Grant, but gotta admit, the guy is dangerous. Vera on the other hand is durable and has high volume, so you expect him to eventually start to edge out a firefight, and I do think he is the better grappler.

Julian Erosa vs. Seung Woo Choi

Erosa fights are fun. Guy fights like a wild man, gets rocked  few times but win or lose its entertaining. Woo Choi probably will be scrapping toe to toe with him.

In a way this is worse version of Erosa's last match-up, but Erosa had to take a beating there to find a finish late, and it is probably same case here. Low percentage way to win generally speaking.

Wellington Turman vs. Bruno Silva

Seen people picking Turman here, but I can't really trust on guy who got KO'd by Andrew Sanchez against guy who has ton of KOs on his record. Hard to say how good Silva actually is but Turman is a good test.

Matt Brown vs. Dhiego Lima

Lima is much lower level fighter, but Brown has been due for retirement and kinda shot... so it's tricky, but I can't trust on Brown here to stay alive even for a grinding decision.

Aleksa Camur vs. Nicolae Negumereanu

I don't know, flip a coin. I was gonna pick Camur for experience but meh, in the end he has not really convinced me so far. The other guy has far more potential upside. But I honestly don't really know.

Kanako Murata vs. Virna Jandiroba

I hate betting on Jandiroba fights. I always either under or overrate her and get it wrong. Murata looks very legit, but how much of a measure is Randa Markos at this point? Not much, so you have to think Virna is live for a sub or sweeps to win the rounds here.

Khaos Williams vs. Matthew Semelsberger

Guess Semelsberger has a way to win a decision here as we don't really have much info of Khaos lately since he keeps killing everyone fast. Might do it here again but at least we get something spectacular for our loss. Think Semelsberger grinds him out though.

Josh Parisian vs. Roque Martinez

Guess these fat guy fights early on is becoming a consistent theme now. Parisian is bigger and has wrestling upside, Roque might be tough and decent boxer but generally don't rate him very high.

Joaquim Silva vs. Rick Glenn

Silva has holes in his game but he is good at finishing fights and Glenn is off a long layoff. Not a spot where I would be comfortable being on Glenn, kinda feel like Silva will start hard to exploit any ring rust.

Lara Procopio vs. Casey O'Neill

Procopio doesn't look like much but as far as low-level women's MMA goes, she isn't too bad. O'Neill has some skills too but is relatively inexperienced and has history of easy match-ups, so Procopio is the side here. It's kind of a crapshoot though.

UFC Fight Night 198 Preview & Predictions

Main Event: Ketlen Vieira vs. Miesha Tate Don't know, don't care. Tate looked great last time around, but I don't know how much weight you can put on beating someone who was a career journeyman in her 40s. Vieira is step-up from that, although she isn't top level fighter either, she is at least closer to her prime and should be able to compete. General heuristic for me is that the game has evolved from 2015 days and that you can't come back to compete at elite level in this sport after being out, so let's go by that and pick Vieira. UFC Fight Night 172 Preview & Predictions

I am exhausted, wrote almost all of these straight. Main Event: Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Joseph Benavidez Sometimes when two people rematch there is reasons to think it won't go exactly like it went the first time, such as when Conor fought Diaz for the 2nd time, or the recent Volkanovski v Holloway rematch. This is not one of those times though, it's a fight where first time went pretty much how I called it and there is little reason to think anything changes this time around. Benavidez is the more intelligent, technical fighter, I suppose. He is also 35 years old and got KOd by Figueiredo last time around. Figueiredo is very powerful for the weight class and for his size, and his size is barely able to make 125, indeed which is why we are having this rematch, since he missed the weight last time around. So all the physical advantages are with Figueiredo, who also got chance to figure out the timing of Benavidez last time around, so won't need to feel around so much ...

UFC Fight Night 190 Post-Fight Analysis

Not the most exciting card by any means. About average event for me in terms of results, tiny bit of winnings thanks to main event and co-main event hitting. Main Card Cyril Gane shut out Volkov according to some scorecards. I don't think the decision should have been quite that wide, but it was clear Gane took over during the five rounds of the fight. He doesn't have spectacular wins over anyone, but Gane doesn't make mistakes and is very skilled, tough guy to beat. Volkov couldn't really take full advantage of his reach, but largely shut out any grappling exchanges.  The co-main was largely a forgettable fight even if Boser got the finish there. Boser got the first round with steady volume and OSP doing fuck all, and in the second when OSP started to grapple he had some success but promptly got KOd after that. OSP just isn't very good, all-in all.  Valiev and Barcelos fought to a close decision. Barcelos had Valiev badly hurt in the second, but somehow only one ju...
